The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant’s a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.
MODERN AMERICAN VERSION
When the harsh, bitter cold winter came this year (due to the effects of man-caused Global Warming), the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving. CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food (Fox News wanted to come but they were not given the proper Press Credentials for the tightly controlled press conference). America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can it be that, in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Then a representative of the NAAGB (The National Association for the Advancement of Green Bugs) shows up on Anderson Cooper 360 and charges the ant with “green bias” and claims that the grasshopper is the victim of 30 million years of greenism.
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when he sings “It’s not easy being green.”
Barack Obama calls for an address before a joint session of Congress to tell the American people that we must act now to do everything we can for the grasshopper who has been denied the prosperity he deserves by those who benefited unfairly during the Bush summers, or as he refers to it, the “unfair conditions of the previous Administration.”
Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barney Frank explain in a Sunday morning panel with David Gregory on Meet the Press that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his “fair share.” Finally, the EEOC drafts the “Economic Equity and Anti-Greenism Act,” Retroactive to the beginning of the summer.
Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson fight over who gets to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Barack appointed from a list of NAAGP lawyers. The ant loses the case.
The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left with which to pay these retroactive taxes, the Government confiscates his home and gives it to the Grasshopper, who, with the help of ACORN, sets up a brothel for underage lady bugs from South America.
As the story ends we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the ant’s house crumbles around him since he doesn’t bother to maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow, which due to Global Warming, is falling at record levels. On the TV, which the grasshopper bought by selling most of the ant’s furniture, they are showing Barack Obama standing before a wildly applauding group of Democrats announcing that a new era of “fairness” has dawned in America.
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that’s what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. ‘Since you are all such good customers,’ he said, ‘I’m going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20.’ Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free.
But what about the other six men – the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his ‘fair share?’
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer.
So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man’s bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
‘I only got a dollar out of the $20,’declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man,’ but he got $10!’
‘Yeah, that’s right,’ exclaimed the fifth man. ‘I only saved a dollar, too.
It’s unfair that he got ten times more than I got’ ‘That’s true!!’
shouted the seventh man. ‘Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!’
‘Wait a minute,’ yelled the first four men in unison. ‘We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!’
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn’t show up for drinks so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, ladies and gentlemen, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.
The market keeps failing. Stocks keep dropping. Confidence is down. The bailouts, spending, stimulus, etc. that are supposed to be helping are having the exact opposite effect and things are getting worse.
But the question comes . . . Is this all being done on purpose? Is the economy being manipulated to in effect create a society even more dependent upon social programs and big government? I do not usually buy into conspiracy theory, but when there is logical reasoning behind them I think they should be at least looked into.
There is a strategy known as the Cloward-Piven Strategy that forces political change through orchestrated crisis. It was proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the “Cloward-Piven Strategy” seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.
Cloward and Piven saw the welfare system as their first target done by capitalizing on the racial unrest of the 1960s. They hired George Wiley, who created the National Welfare Reform Organization (NWRO) to implement the strategy. Moreover, this kind of mass influence is cumulative because benefits are continuous. Once eligibility for basic food and rent grants is established, the drain on local resources persists indefinitely.
The huge expansion of welfare in New York City that came of the NWRO’s Cloward-Piven tactics sent the city into bankruptcy in 1975. Rudy Giuliani citedHe also credited Cloward-Piven with changing the cultural attitude toward welfare from that of a temporary expedient to a lifetime entitlement, an attitude which in-and-of-itself has caused perhaps the greatest damage of all. Cloward and Piven by name as being responsible for “an effort at economic sabotage.”
(which by the way – a perception of lifetime entitlement is enough to make me crazy. Welfare was never meant to be the sole supporter of the family or individual. It was supposed to be a temporary measure to get people back on their feet. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine.)
Then in 1982 the voting rights wing of the movement got traction. Guess what group that is? ACORN. Along with ProjectVote and Human SERVE. Known as one of the most radical groups in the country ACORN states their purpose as,”the nation’s largest grassroots community organization of low-and moderate-income people with over 400,000 member families organized into more than 1,200 neighborhood chapters in 110 cities across the country. Since 2004, ACORN has helped more than 1.7 million low- and moderate-income and minority citizens apply to register to vote.”
ACORN has been involved in numerous charges of voter fraud. Their strategy follows the pattern of Cloward-Piven. Link from American Thinker.
* 1. Register as many Democrat voters as possible, legal or otherwise and help them vote, multiple times if possible.
* 2. Overwhelm the system with fraudulent registrations using multiple entries of the same name, names of deceased, random names from the phone book, even contrived names.
* 3. Make the system difficult to police by lobbying for minimal identification standards.
There is also cause to wonder if this strategy also contributed to the current mortgage crisis as well. The mortgage crisis has some blame falling back as far as the Carter administration. It began with the Community Reinvestment Act(CRA), signed into law in 1977 by President Jimmy Carter. The CRA was Carter’s answer to a grassroots activist movement started in Chicago, and forced banks to make loans to low income, high risk customers. Stan Leibowitz wrote in the New York Post:
In the 1980s, groups such as the activists at ACORN began pushing charges of “redlining”-claims that banks discriminated against minorities in mortgage lending. In 1989, sympathetic members of Congress got the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act amended to force banks to collect racial data on mortgage applicants; this allowed various studies to be ginned up that seemed to validate the original accusation
Obama represented ACORN in the Buycks-Roberson v. Citibank Fed. Sav. Bank, 1994 suit against redlining. Most significant of all, ACORN was the driving force behind a 1995 regulatory revision pushed through by the Clinton Administration that greatly expanded the CRA and laid the groundwork for the Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac borne financial crisis we now confront.
New York Post article – A 1995 strengthening of the Community Reinvestment Act required banks to find ways to provide mortgages to their poorer communities. It also let community activists intervene at yearly bank reviews, shaking the banks down for large pots of money.
Ironically, an enthusiastic Fannie Mae Foundation report singled out one paragon of nondiscriminatory lending, which worked with community activists and followed “the most flexible underwriting criteria permitted.” That lender’s $1 billion commitment to low-income loans in 1992 had grown to $80 billion by 1999 and $600 billion by early 2003.
Since these loans were to be underwritten by the government sponsored Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the implicit government guarantee of those loans absolved lenders, mortgage bundlers and investors of any concern over the obvious risk. As Bloomberg reported: “It is a classic case of socializing the risk while privatizing the profit.”
So you hope your team loses because you don’t like the captain? That’s treason my friend.
This analogy isn’t quite accurate so let me share the story of the 1919 Chicago “Black Sox” and create a better one.
As the story goes, eight members of the team were part of a conspiracy to purposefully lose the World Series to the Cincinnati Reds.
Lets say there were several groups of fans out there. The first group would be the Reds fans wanted their team to win. The next three groups would all be White Sox fans but would consist of three sub groups. The first would be those who loved their team but didn’t know of the conspiracy and was rooting for their team to win. The second would be those who said they loved their team but knew of the conspiracy and were gaining by betting money against them. The third would be those who loved the team and knew of the conspiracy and were hoping that something would happen to those players in order to prevent them from purposefully losing the World Series. They would have been actively rooting for those players to fail in their conspiracy while simultaneously rooting for the team to somehow pull off the victory.
This is the situation we face in America. We are in a battle against a foreign enemy, as represented by the Cincinnati Reds, that is trying to defeat us and bring America down. This enemy includes many nations who have hated America for a long time. There is also a domestic enemy, represented by those who originated the conspiracy and paid off the eight players, that has been trying to tear down this country from the inside by eroding our education system, taking over our courts, tearing apart our societal foundations, and removing God from our nation’s past. The eight corrupted players are those in America’s Government actively making choices that will lead to our defeat.
The fans are the citizens of the nations involved. The White Sox fans represent the citizens of America. There are some who know what is going on and are contributing to the defeat of our country. Organizations such as Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, ACORN, and so on are helping to advance the decline of American values and gain significant wealth from the politicians. They are the equivalent of the fans who had inside information and were betting for the White Sox to lose the series. The fans that didn’t know of the conspiracy and were rooting for their favorite players represent the citizens in America who voted for the current administration and those in office on the hopes they would change America for the better, or win the World Series if you will. These fans were probably a little confused as the series went on and their team kept losing some games. They were probably also confused by some of the strange events such as poor pitching performances, timely strikeouts, and uncharacteristic errors but continued to root for their team to pull it out in the end. The final group are those of us who see the strange events, know something is going on and want our team to win. We are the citizens who have seen the events taking place in past nations and know where these events lead. We are not rooting for our team, America, to lose but we are rooting for the failure of those who are leading us down that path. We love our country and do not want it to end up like so many other nations that were once free but fell to charismatic leaders who did not have the country’s best interest at heart.
There are people in this country who are rooting for the failure of our current administration because they recognize the events taking place. They recognize that there are people working to destroy America and cannot sit by and allow that to happen. The final outcome is yet to be determined but there are forces at work willing to do everything they can to bring that destruction to fruition. I hope it does not end like the 1919 World Series. As the series went on, it appeared that some of the eight players had a change of heart and tried to turn it around and pull out a victory but by that point it was too late. The wheels were in motion and they were too far invested to pull out and the orchestrators of the conspiracy made sure they followed through.
I just hope and pray for America that we have not reached that point of no return. The world will be a dark place should we fail.
America has always been a nation for good though never perfect. It has a past filled with injustices but has always worked to correct them and make things right. Recently in Florida, something so gruesom happened that it is hard to accept that it was a real even and not something out of a Hollywood movie.
TAMPA, Florida — Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.
Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.
Only Renelique didn’t arrive in time. According to Williams and the Florida Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.
What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic’s owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant’s umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.
Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.
I came across another to drop her topic of abortion. This girl made a video of her speech which you can see below.
Whether you agree with her position or not, how did we reach a point both in America and Canada where free thought and the open debate of ideas is stifled because a topic is “controversial”? Why do people on the “pro-choice” side go to such great lengths to silence anyone who dares speak against the evils of abortion with well thought out points, facts, and strong and sincere feelings for the sanctity and protection of human life?
If aborting a fetus was merely a choice to be made by the mother, why is it such a “hard choice” for those who are faced with making it? Deep down, every person knows that the “fetus” is a human being. Every person knows that ripping a “fetus” out piece by piece is brutal and depraved. While that is a “choice”, it is not a choice that be defended as ethical or humane by anyone being intellectually honest.
With the medical knowledge and technology, there is no doubt anymore when life begins. The only doubt comes when people shut off their conscience because they don’t want to address the brutal practice that has take the lives of 3,300 babies each day, 1.2 million babies each year, and 50 million babies since Roe v. Wade legalized abortion in 1973.
I thought there was a wall that separated Church and State. Apparently worshipping the Head of State and thanking him as your “Gracious God” is now an ok thing to do. This is getting crazy as people are trembling before this man as more than just their President but their Savior.
If you haven’t read about the hidden “health care” portions of the “stimulus” bill you should take a look at it here.
What is going on in America today is frightening though not surprising. I said long before the election that if we put these far Left leaders in charge we are going to see a radically different America in 2009 and I even said that it would happen very rapidly. They have almost complete power lacking only 1 solid Left Justice on the Supreme Court from being able to do anything they want.
This “health care” attachment to the bill is one of those things. When I was a teacher, I would tell my students that there would come a time that we in America would look at elderly citizens as a burden and start rationalizing their “termination” when it became convenient for us to do so. They thought I was an idiot but we live in a country that does that very thing to the unborn. Over 40 million unborn human beings have been murdered in the name of “reproductive rights”, “women’s rights”, “choice”, and “compassion”. The existence of abortion and the killing of so many innocent babies is easily the biggest stain on America’s 200+ year history. These babies have been renamed “fetuses” because it sounds better when you “terminate” a fetus rather than when you kill a baby. There is a case currently in Florida where members of an abortion clinic are being charged with murder because they took a 23 week old baby who was born after a botched abortion and put her in a biohazard bag before throwing her into the trash. People are outraged by this but just five minutes early, they would have been ok with killing this baby because she was inside the womb. It is sick, perverted, debased, and outrageous that this goes on in a civilized country with our technology and all in the name of “progressive thought”. Our President even voted against an Illinois bill as a State Senator that would require “Doctors” to do everything they could to provide medical assistance for such babies who survived botched abortions.
Now, as written about by Tom Daschle who was slated to become the Secretary of Health and Human Services, we are going to put into law a bill that takes decisions out of the hands of Doctors and puts them into the hands of Federal Bureaucrats to determine how we treat patients. As the article states, this will most greatly affect the elderly because their conditions may require expensive treatments and they are the most expendable. The Doctors will not be permitted to treat them as they see fit if it is determined that the treatment is too expensive or does not fit the criteria as determined by those working for the Government.
Is this really the change we wanted when we handed unrestrained power to Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Joe Biden, Barney Frank, Chuch Schumer, Hillary Clinton, and so on? I don’t think change included sending tax payer money to other countries so they can now use it to kill their own unborn. I don’t think it included using tax payer money to tell elderly patients who need an expensive treatment, “Sorry, your diagnosis is treatable but we just can’t approve it because of the cost, we will make your death as pain free as possible and can assist you in dying with dignity if you would like.” I don’t think it included the possibility of spending close to $4 Trillion (that is $4,000,000,000,000 or four million million dollars) within the first couple months of office.
We are living in very dangerous days and people need to face that reality. I am not sure if it is too late to turn back but it is close. I heard somebody say once that the only thing that lasts forever is a Federal spending program. We are about to make into law many of those that will change America as we know it and once that happens, it may be too late. We may be seeing the end of America as we once knew it. If that is the case, start looking up because we will only have one last hope.
I found a Worldnetdaily article that every parent in America should be leary of and pray that sanity will prevail. It describes a UN treaty that would strip parents of their rights to raise their own children leaving all decisions in the hands of UN approved social workers. Some of the main features include:
* Parents would no longer be able to administer reasonable spankings to their children.
* A murderer aged 17 years, 11 months and 29 days at the time of his crime could no longer be sentenced to life in prison.
* Children would have the ability to choose their own religion while parents would only have the authority to give their children advice about religion.
* The best interest of the child principle would give the government the ability to override every decision made by every parent if a government worker disagreed with the parent’s decision.
* A child’s “right to be heard” would allow him (or her) to seek governmental review of every parental decision with which the child disagreed.
* According to existing interpretation, it would be illegal for a nation to spend more on national defense than it does on children’s welfare.
* Children would acquire a legally enforceable right to leisure.
* Teaching children about Christianity in schools has been held to be out of compliance with the CRC.
* Allowing parents to opt their children out of sex education has been held to be out of compliance with the CRC.
* Children would have the right to reproductive health information and services, including abortions, without parental knowledge or consent.
